Big Swim Training Session 1 2

It started off looking like Bevan, Dave, and Dave were the only offshore idiots front and centre for the swim this morning, but that number quickly doubled as Stephen, Chris, and Rob suddenly appeared. Suzie almost joined us too but alas it was not to be.

We set our sights on the Post for a relaxing first leg. The water was almost calm and cloudy.

At the post, Bevan suggested a swim to the nearest Cat and then down to a rubber ducky near the far cone (Raglan St end). I wanted to stretch it out a bit and suggested to Chris that we head for Inforapenny II moored near the naval base. We set out on our separate tangents the others no doubt wondering where the hell we were going. I had the aid of flippers but Chris had no trouble keeping pace with me.

Arriving at the rubber ducky, Chris and I scanned the seas looking for the others. Moving back a little, Chris noticed the others bringing up the rear. Intriguing…

When the group reformed, the first words out of their mouths were “IDIOTS! Didn’t we agree on the first cat?!”

“Well,” Chris and I reasoned, “We have a big swim coming at the end of the month and we wanted to put in some distance.”

Ironically, when I mapped the swim routes, Bevan, Stephen, Rob and Dave F. swam further.

Other idiots enjoying the action closer to shore included:

Mike and Suzie, Rod, Ruth, Ken, Linda, Janice, Judith, Claire, Robyn, Di E., Chris W., Bob, Malcolm & Chris, Peter, Ian, Paul & Anne, and….

The water temp was 23C but felt more like 25+.

About Dave

Dave has been an idiot for longer than he can remember. However, his Real Idiot status was confirmed about 20 years ago when Linda and Bevan coaxed him out to the post. Developer and administrator of this website as well as reporter, photographer, and chief spell-checker. Thankfully, other idiots contribute to the site to keep it interesting...

Great swim today!  I’m still convinced the water temp is higher than shown on the board.  I rekon we can’t be far away from 25C.  Yours hotly = Chris
