For the record, the water temps for the week were: Mon 8/1: 23C, Tue 9/1: 23.2C, Wed 10/1: 22C, Thu 11/1: 23C, Fri 12/1: 23C

Monday 8/1

Thanks to Mike for writing up the findings for the day – water temp 23C. Ruth, Judy & John returned from down South. Welcome home. A HUGE crowd at coffee consisting of Rob, John, Linda, Bev, Bob, Chris, Richard, Dave, and Judy.

Tuesday 9/1

What a deluge it was last night! Arriving at the beach at 625am, I noticed the guys and gal heading to the dark side. A brown slick ran the length of the island and pushed out towards the second cone. Well that explains the change of scene.

Plenty of leaves to swim through on the dark side for Chris, Rob, Stephen, Judy, Dave U., Bevan, and Dave S. Chris recorded the event for posterity. Other idiots braving the conditions included Linda, Bob, John, David and Judy, Claire and…

The water temp this morning was 23.2C and I enlisted the help of Claire to write up the findings. Thanks Claire 🙂

Wed 10/1

The Real Idiots consisting of Judy, Bevan, Dave U., and Chris did a Barrel today and swam back via the post and a few new cats. The water was crystal clear this morning which is surprising considering how filthy it was yesterday. Tong, who has been swimming at Balmoral for the past 18 years, was sequestered to take the temperature today. Thanks Tong.

Thu 11/1

Quite the turnout for the swim this morning but WHERE’S BEVAN?! Matt, Judy, Richard, Stephen, Dave U., Chris, and Dave S. headed out around a cat and another yacht to the post. Over to yet another cat whilst swimming through tons of small jellies, back through “Idyll Island”, then home James via the dirty pin.

“Shark in a Bus” Museum set up camp on the other side of the Tram Shed.

Fri 12/1

The wandering swimmers consisting of Stephen, Matt, Richard, and Chris headed to Manly to swim with the Bold & Beautiful. It’s a 1.5km swim from Many Surf Club to Shelley Beach. Great effort guys!

Bevan, Judy, and “The Daves” headed out to a catamaran (plenty to choose from) to the right of the post, then it was decision time. Bevan and Judy thought a barrel was the go. “The Dave’s” decided to exit stage right and head for home.

At coffee, Judy mentioned being mauled by sea lice (Bevan also!) so maybe the decision not to swim to the barrel was a good one 😉

Ken joined us for a coffee as did “The Wanderers” who survived the B&B swim and looked none the worse for wear. Thanks to Cindy for capturing the moment.
