Tuesday, 13 June 2017 – I’m leaving on a jet plane… 

The few idiots who arrived this morning to enjoy the cool 16.2C water included Linda, Phil, James, Janice, Deb, Bevan, Chris, Dave U., Dave, Rod and Josey. HUGE…

The water was bracing for the first 200m, then warmed up or maybe we just lost our sense of touch. Pretty clear all the way out to the cat, then we headed across to the stump, island, dirty cone and home James.

This was Bevan’s last swim for a month as he journeys from our fair shores. Won’t it be fun for him when the water temp would have dipped to an average of 14.2C in July as historical evidence (1979-1993) suggests?! Judy is sure to have fun when she arrives back next week from a 38C Granada.

Wednesday, 14 June 2017 – Two is better than none

Chris and Dave were the only offshore idiots up for a swim today with Dave down with man-flu. We headed out around a beautiful junk-yard ketch named Moonshine V, and another boat moored further out before reaching the post. The water felt surprisingly cold despite the recorded temp of 16.5C (thanks Ken!).  Seasoned Idiot numbers were also down with Linda, Robert, Catherine, Meg, Bunny, Di, Vic & Rosemary, and Judith the only ones enjoying the water.

Thursday, 15 June 2017 – And then there was one

Dave represented the offshore idiots today with a swim around a black hulled boat named “Eloura” that was moored about 200 meters offshore. After rounding the boat, I headed across to the island and swam over the seaweed and rocks that were very close to the surface due to a low tide. I was startled by a large fish (about 2 ft long) swimming towards me that had jagged rips down its side. I pondered what could have caused that much damage then swam away from there FAST!

The water was pretty clear closer in and the water temp felt a lot warmer than yesterday. I was surprised to see the recorded temp of 16.1C. Discussing my fish sighting, Josey suggested that a boat’s propeller may have been the cause. I like that theory!

Representing the Seasoned Idiots today (from what I cam remember) were Vic & Rosemary, Linda, Janice, Josey, Meg, Di E., Di, Claire, Rod, Tim, Louise, and Robert.
