The course set by Rob today was a leisurely swim Around the Bay. For those not in the know, here is the route – Dirty cone to yacht near Raglan cone, Woody, swim through a Cat, head to the Post; then it’s Polar Bear, down the coast, and swim parallel to the shore to home.
There was a bit of a breeze blowing and a few benign jellies were spotted. Apparently a Wobbegong was spotted by Linda down by the island. We headed to Polar Bear (end of the island) then down the coast to see if we could make a sighting. Rob, Chris and Dave saw a Shag (little black cormorant) about 3 feet down carrying supper in its mouth. You don’t see that every day. Alas, there was no wobbegong to be found, so we headed back to base.
Water temp is perfect at the moment – 17C. Unfortunately, these sunny warm days are drawing in the crowds as parking is at a premium.
Since Louise and Bevan are not swimming at the moment, perhaps they can set up a security post?
