18 October 2011 Better late than… 2

Dave is first to admit when he’s being a slacker and such is the case with his 1 week hiatus from joining the idiots in their morning ritual. He did break the drought today however and headed down the hill a few hours behind schedule. The atmosphere at the beach was relaxed. About twenty people ranging from the older generation to young fit mums, were all soaking up the rays. Dave swam out to the dirty pin and past a few seagulls that were nonplussed by his instrusion. Glancing down through the green mist, thousands of baitfish zigged and zagged furiously. A few bream were spotted enjoying the spoils. Wondering what other predators would be around for a snack, Dave ventured closer to shore and headed to the Raglan Street pipe. The water was warm, almost hot compared to what the idiots are used to enduring.

Drying off and heading along Almora Street, Dave reflected on how short his swim was after being out of the water for so long. Chastising himself, he returned to the beach and set up camp at the steps near the island (the scantily clad women had nothing to do with his decison). He ventured into the water and swam 4 laps – island to pipe. Much better. As he was towelling himself dry for the second time, he recognised a familiar figure entering the water near the Almora steps. Swimming down to make contact, Dave caught up with Warren. They both agreed a coffee was in order and tried out the newly re-opened cafe on Mandolong Rd. The coffee was ordinary and lacked the punch that a connoisseur deserves. We ventured over to the island and took in the surrounds. Perfect.
Swim 1 = 474m; Swim 2 = 940m; Swim 3 = 190m Total: 1604m

About Dave

Dave has been an idiot for longer than he can remember. However, his Real Idiot status was confirmed about 20 years ago when Linda and Bevan coaxed him out to the post. Developer and administrator of this website as well as reporter, photographer, and chief spell-checker. Thankfully, other idiots contribute to the site to keep it interesting...

I didn’t want to confirm my old perve status by taking photos. I can describe the scenery instead if you like… well there was this girl in a black… oh, best not put that in print…

The weather and scenery was even better today!
