As we wave good-bye to winter and welcome Spring, the Real Idiots celebrated in style with consecutive barrel swims on the last day of Winter, the first of Spring, AND the 2nd day of Spring. WOW! Talk about exhausting!
Dave joined Ian’s very exclusive 2km club unwittingly when he followed Ian around the island. The others had stopped at the end of the island for a photo-shoot with Photographer-extraordinaire, Mr. Chris Meredith.
Arriving at the beach at Deadman’s, I noticed that Ian had set off again so I followed him to the Shark post, and then from there to the post. Finally, he had stopped at this point and was wondering who the pillock was that was following him. Ian suggested we swim around a cat and back to the dirty cone to seal the deal – 2.03kms swum.
Ed, Dave’s nephew has been putting in a semi regular appearance and is well on the way to gaining his Real Idiot status. He has also been helping out with the temperature readings, taking the heat off Ruth and Dave – Thanks Ed!
29/8 A quick Saturday jaunt with Ed and his friend Tom down to Deadman’s and back looked like this. About 1.55kms round trip – nice!
The usual around the island Friday swim was extended today. A strong contingent of Idiots consisting of Rob, Dave U., Ed, Bevan, Stephen, Judy, Chris and Dave (Ian had already struck out on his own), headed to the end of the island, the “Shark Pin”, Deadman’s, Bevan’s rock, and finally a jaunt down the coast looking for fish, and a dugong to finish. That mighty distance measured 1520m according to Google.
And finally, what’s a post without pictures?
