The Weekly Digest 20 – 27 August, 2017

I can’t believe another week has flown by. Bevan is well into his trip up north (a separate story to follow), Judy has been to Bawley and returned, the temperature has been up and down and up again, Di returned albeit briefly, Linda is back in the water… and if that isn’t exciting enough, we had a visit from The Mosman Daily to write about the Swimming Idiots. This only came about thanks to Fran’s mention of The Swimming Idiots in an article written about him and his painting ‘The Conversation’ that was bought by the Mosman Daily. THANKS Fran 🙂

Richard earned back some of his “Real Idiot” stripes as he swam with Judy, Dave U., and Chris, back and forth for 30 minutes in a photo op with the brave photographer who quietly froze to death in the fresh 15C water. Actually I think the idiots were also turning blue in an attempt to capture the perfect image. The price of fame! 😉

Judy, Chris, Richard, and Dave S. sat with the journalist and discussed the essence of swimming in winter and what it means to be an idiot. She kept coming back to why we do it. I think the sentiments are similar, if not the same – a love of the ocean, stunning sunrises, a sense of bonhomie, the only way to the start the day, camaraderie, meditation, health, and a shared wonder that we have this stretch of paradise all to ourselves.

On a separate and equally exciting note: I purchased a digital thermometer with the intent on speeding up the temperature taking task. It worked great on Friday, however on Saturday it was a total bust. So back to the old method, unfortunately.

Distrodamus was back with her prediction today being bang on – “I’d say between 15 and 16C.” 15.5C it was…

The Sunday relaxed crowd included Louise, Meg, Bunny, Di, Alex, Andrew, Pam, Sutho, and Peter.
