The scene opens with a man half crouching in the sand near the water’s edge. The incoming surge races towards him. Pulling himself and his camera upright at the last moment, he is lucky to escape a drenching. The water recedes and he awaits the next wave with gleeful anticipation.
Suddenly someone shouts his name and he scans the myriad faces for the source.
Well I’ll be damned, is that… Matt McGuire??
My eyes are not deceiving me, it is Matt McGuire!
For those of you not in the know, Matt was head of the West Australian Idiots branch a few years back and lived to tell the tale. He is seen less frequently these days as his day job has him heading to Melbourne a few days a week.
Proving his mettle as a Real Idiot will come easily for Matt as he joins Rob, Stephen, Bevan, Richard, Sutho, Chris, and Dave in the Big Swim from Palm to Whale Beach on 29 Jan.
