London calling #2

It’s been 6 month since my last ‘London calling’ instalment…and I know how much you’ve been awaiting my next bulletin.
London life is treating me well, I’ve caught the mandatory cold by sharing a crowded tube in the winter season, have used the various pubs as a salvation from the cold and enjoyed some great travel during the year since I last wrote to you all – Greek Islands, Tuscany, Seville, Ibiza, & Stockholm.
My work is enjoyable (normally the words ‘enjoy’ & ‘work’ are not used in the same sentence I know) and meeting some fascinating people – UK Government ministers, head of states from Australia, Socceroos players, Jeff Thomson (cricketer) at a lunch at Lord’s, attended the Australian Ballet at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, etc. etc. My role revolves around hosting/attending events to connect our Chamber of Commerce members (typically very business focussed & the above are the exceptions).
It was great to have Rob J. visit, we did have a regular flow of friends throughout the warmer/sporting (tennis, rugby, cricket) months.
SBJ made a guest appearance in London a few weeks ago & duly included me in the red-carpet premiere night for Napoleon which was fabulous.
The world of morning swims & the lifestyle of Balmoral seems so foreign – hopefully a visit in 2024 some time (ideally not in the winter). I have just this second watched the video Dave posted of the Wishing Well Xmas party – what a cracker – Chris M. you are multi-talented.
Belinda & I head to the Dolomites on Friday for 5 days to enjoy a white Christmas with our younger son joining us.
I wish all the Swimming Idiots a wonderful Christmas and wish you much health and happiness for 2024.
Richard
