Quite a crowd lined up for Friday’s swim around the island – Stephen, Richard, Judy, Dave, Jasmine, Bevan, Chris, and Dave. Notable absentees were Pilates Rob, Matt M. and Chris’s niece, Melissa.
Judy set off first now that her turbo propellers have been retired; Bevan was next with a slight head start, then the pack followed. A bit of traffic to dodge before we all came together near the island. There was a bit of fun to be had at the end of the island dodging fishing boats and the rocks. Jasmine was heading for a fishing boat before I suggested a course change, only to pull her away from a shallow stretch of rocks. Jasmine, Dave and I then headed to the far cone and found the others had continued the swim to the beach at Deadman’s.
Heading back there were no further incidents and we regrouped at Bevan’s rock before heading to the dirty cone to finish the swim. The distance swum was 1.5kms.
Well done everyone!
Also enjoying the warm water this morning were Linda, Ken, Robyn, Ruth, Mike, Suzie (who is sporting a nice tan), Claire, Robyn, Di, Di, Peter, Dennis, Janice, Rosie, John, Judith, and Pam.
On Australia Day we will be swimming to Cobblers which is 2.3kms give or take. We look forward to a big turnout of idiots including Matt, Pilates Rob, Sutho, and Clan Meredith perhaps.
