At 6.55am today I dived in for a quick 2 minute dip (icy cold) and spotted 3 swimmers rounding the “farkone” and heading towards the Almora Steps. I noticed they were swimming far closer to shore…..not the usual route – could it be the ‘regular swimming idiots’? Yep – Judy, Linda & Bevan – who happily told me they were looking for shovel nose sharks….!!!
Has the cold water turned these peoiple into certified idiots? Good to see the faithfuls doing their swim – inspiring stuff and almost enough for me to make an apperance next week….stay tuned.
Richard
Thanks for the update Richard and it will be good to see you next week for a swim as I’m sure it will be good for the idiots to see me back in the water after a 1 week hiatus.
I can attest to the hunting as it was I who spotted the 2 shovel nose rays/sharks at my early 6.00am swim.I stayed close to the shore this morning due to the darkness of the morning and the swell. Two wee shovel nose sharks were parked up near the Raglan street steps and it was most enjoyable swimming in close to see all the sea life.
The one that really scared me though was bigger than the 2 shovel nose chaps and must have come from a rare species that frequents the waters…it was a condom approximately a foot long and it did make me jump !More scary than the sharks !
Sutho.
Charming Sutho! So were they shovel-nosed rays like the one you spotted a few weeks back or sharks? Did the others see them? Were they eating anything or just resting?
