Some observations and sightings last month at the beach.
- Bevan returned to our fair shores on Thursday (14/9) after that epic Gulf Tour. He looks none the worse for wear after covering a distance of 7,500kms! His return also marked the arrival of cooler water of 15.5C!
- The smaller crowds enjoying the water last week included Linda, Mike, Rod, Di, Di E., Claire, Louise, Bunny, Pam, Gail, Judy, Dave U. (back from the snowfields), Chris, the aforementioned Bevan, Tony, Robert, Peter, Judith, Sally, Meg, Richard (for a Friday splash), Janice, Josey, Doug, and Ken… Ok, that crowd doesn’t seem so small after all…
- The footpath has been opened in parts so the Raglan St crew have returned to their digs. They weren’t such a bad lot after all…
- We had a visit from HMAS Gascoyne (M85). The Huon class Minehunter was moored a bit too far away to swim around and we doubt they would have been welcoming…
- Louise departed our fair shores on Monday (19/9) heading to Tonga for a snorkeling adventure. Watch this space for photos of her trip (well when she returns in three weeks time that is).
- A sighting at the beach on Monday (19/9) of Stephen BJ!
- Malcolm & Chris returned from Mudgee to enjoy the cool 16C water on Tuesday morning (20/9). The temperature caused some consternation for a few idiots who believed it was colder. It was 15.7C down the other end…
- A sighting of Richard on Tuesday (20/9) but his time in the water was so fleeting that I may have imagined it…
- The water temp on Wednesday (20/9) was 15.9C and an icy breeze made us wonder if it was Spring at all.
- On Thursday (21/9) Dave S. was AWOL. Richard swam that day too!
- On Friday, RBJ and SBJ joined Chris, Dave, Dave, and Bevan for a swim around the island. Uncle Ken joined us for coffee. It was good to see him out and about 🙂 Rob stopped by too!
Last week:
- RBJ has been a regular swimmer!
- Portaloos have been erected near our temporary steps
- Ruth has returned
- Di is back too
- Bob swam! …
A special note of thanks to:
- My temp weather girl Linda for writing up the board when I’m not able to (running late).
- The sand stylists when we were temporarily relocated – Di E., Claire, and Pam (also thanks for the chalk, Pam).

Loving the temp recordings Mr Dave!. We need a year-on-year analysis (next year) so we can form a view on the truth about “Balmoral-warming”. (Nice pic too!)
