Men wanted for Capella Choir – no experience necessary! 2

Whilst this isn’t technically a Swimming Idiots thing I hope you’ll forgive me for plugging the fact that there’s a local Men’s Capella Choir that’s now recruiting new members.

Thanks to Judy’s suggestion, Matt and I have taken the plunge and it’s been a great ride – culminating in an in-promptu performance of “Sixteen Tons” and “Fare The Well” in the Buena Vista on Tuesday last week.

We’re now looking for extra members in the count-down to the next term and a concert in mid-September.

The new term starts on  Tuesday 18th July. And the good news is that there’s no experience necessary! (Seriously, when i first turned up, the last previous time I’d sung was at school before my voice broke!)

There a gazillion reasons for joining (good for wellbeing, meet new people, have a laugh, receive adulation from the audience etc etc) but I joined simply to stretch myself and try something new.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm – 9.30pm and take place in the church hall on Melrose Street (just behind The Mosman Practice on Military Road).

It’s all very friendly and relaxed and professionally conducted by Hummingsong – who also run four other womens choirs (of which Judy is a member!). But this recruitment drive is for the one and only Mens choir.

Full details and registration on the link below.  Hope there will be lots of volunteers!  I don’t want to name names (errr..) but I think this would be perfect for the likes of Ken, Malcom and John and Luke – to name but a few!

I’ll be at the steps on Monday and Tuesday to answer questions but after that I’m away for a few weeks so hope you’ll grab me before then.

Here’s that link! Sign up now!!!

Chris I endorse all your comments and can certainly commend singing as way to lift your mood ,challenge your grey matter , meet new friends , go to the pub …. often it seems . If any idiot ladies are interested in joining an a Capella choir , just speak to me and I can give you details ?
