Stunning light this morning at the beach and quite a crowd gathered for a dip. A lucky dip if you don’t occupy the same stretch of water as a Jimble. One unlucky lady enthusiastically pointed out where not to swim – between the second and third cone, about 40 metres from shore.
Paul, Anne, Di, and Linda were all dressed for summer swimming and were lucky dippers. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Also lucky were Tony, Rod, Malcolm, Ken, Sutho, Bevan, Chris, Dave, Bob, Tony, Vic, Rosie, Sally, Janet, Luke, Mike, Janice and Josie. Well Done! Kerstin unfortunately had an unlucky dip 🙁
Around The Bay was the course set today. My chin and throat are on fire having swum into 5 MONSTERS between the beach and the cones. The thought of pulling my head out of the water occurred to me afterwards… Bevan, Chris and Dave miraculously missed them! That’s what you get for heading out first. The swim for me was uneventful after that except for when I stopped to play with a Moon Jelly, and on the way to the post from Belle, I could feel some salps or amoebic jellies brushing against me.
We stopped at the post to admire the large boat moored near the Barrel and Bevan mentioned that he almost collided with some moored kayaks on the way to Belle. Chris continues to not drown in his ‘onesy’ although it’s slow going. He figures he will be in better shape than the rest of us when the wetsuits finally come off.
Off to the island next, where I spied with my little eye something beginning with J. Fortunately, it was deep down. We headed along the island to the beach and stopped to admire an athletic woman balancing on one leg whilst straightening the other behind her. Impressive! And to finish off this exhaustive description of our swim, we did a dugong to the steps. Lovely!
Jimble count today was about 10, Fly count was about 100, and water temp was 19.9C – THANKS KEN 🙂
Sorry to dash your hopes…but just got off the phone from ‘Sutho’ who copped a really bad jimble sting this morning….
I missed the swims this week guys…a bit of a throat issue & heading to Crescent head surfing with RBJ and matt McGuire…so see you next week in a brave new TRUMP world !
Sounds like a load of fun Stephen. I look forward to seeing the CHI photos. A brave new world indeed! The Pawpaw salve works wonders for Jimble Stings…. should have bought shares in the company 😉
Indeed I did. Down near the wharf at 6.09am to be precise and the little bastard got me on my exposed arm. Also copped a few last week and have had them pretty much every day for the last few weeks. Tablespoon of cement to harden up and will be back in tomorrow am !
Great pics Dave and good to see you back in the water. The good news today (Weds) was that the jimble count by me and Dave as we hugged the shoreline round the island was zero and there didn’t seem to be any jimble reports from other idiots at the steps. Could they have made a ‘Jexit’ from Balmoral??????
PS The onsie is gone (causing a rash). I’m down to a simple long sleeved rashie now. Bring on budgies only!
Thanks Chris and it’s good to be back but I wish those Jimbles would POQ… A long sleeved Rashie with no other protection??? What are you thinking man!
