Big surf on East Coast 4

Dave thanks for braving the elements in order to provide us with accurate stats on water temp. Here on the South Coast, water is a little warmer, apparently 18 ( can’t accurately confirm that, but I have been happily swimming with no protection.
The strong seas giving you grief at Balmoral, have provided some spectacular sights down here, with enormous waves, and the usual hoard of surfers in their HiLuxes, and vans, swarming to the best vantage spots from which to watch the waves. As always happens in conditions like this, despite warnings, a rock fisherman was washed off the rocks and lost his life; this time at Merry Beach, just South of us.
Have included ( hopefully !! ) photos taken from Bawley Point yesterday morning ( surf break there is called Super Tubes – too big to ride yesterday! )
See you in the water on Tuesday ????

About Judy

One of the original "idiots" and generally the last at destination! Love my daily dip and find it hard to start the day without a morning swim around the bay.

Mr Sanney has been diligent in his measurements each day , taking readings up and down the beach. He was showing 12 on Friday, 16+ on Saturday and 17+ on Sunday. Fake news I hear you cry. My thermometer is more accurate. It is well tucked away in my wetsuit and gives me a very accurate reading after my swim, once the wet suit is removed. No way the water hit 17 or even 16 according to my very accurate reading !!

Terrific photos Jude – superb weather over weekend. I need to challenge Mr Sanney’s temp. recording for Sunday using my own very accurate ‘toe in the water gauge’. Sutho (with wetsuit) exited the water shaking his head on how cool it was & remarked that the 16.95 temp. registered on the board was way too high, and me – without wetsuit (teabag dip) – reckon it was 15 if we were lucky! Are Sutho & I just getting softer?

Very soft Richard and in Sutho’s case non-existent 😉 I think you may have to invest in some new reading glasses as the wrong temp displayed on Sunday was 16.25C. The real temp was 17.25C but I couldn’t be bothered returning to the beach to rectify it. Good to hear you are around. Coming down for a swim tomorrow?

Spectacular photos Judy! I hope you were snapping them with a Tele-photo lens as the surf looks rough.
